This paper is a translation of Barney Norris' play, The Visitors, which was performed in London for the first time in 2014, and which addresses the theme of dementia from which some elderly people suffer. The author of this play is the young British writer Barney Norris (1987- ), who was chosen as one of the thousand most influential people in London in 2015 with David Hare, Tom Stoppard and others. This paper begins with the translator's introduction which sheds light on the play's author, as one of the most important young playwrights in Britain, and refers to some of his works as well as the awards he received. Then, it emphasizes the importance of this play and the topics it tackles such as dementia, the role of youth and the state towards Alzheimer's patients, children's ingratitude to their parents, lifelong love as well as fear of death and fear of life. It also sheds light on rural life in Britain at the present time. Further, the introduction accentuates some international theatrical works that deal with the same topics discussed in The Visitors and refers to some international films that handle the theme of dementia. Moreover, the translator's introduction presents a critical reading of The Visitors in the light of Eric Ericson's theory of the psychological and social development of man.
